Laser pulse shape designer for direct-drive inertial confinement fusion implosions

Abstract Pulse shaping is a powerful tool for mitigating implosion instabilities in direct-drive inertial confinement fusion (ICF). However, the high-dimensional and nonlinear nature of implosions makes pulse optimization quite challenging. In this research, we develop machine-learning shape designer to achieve high compression density stable implosion. The facility-specific laser imprint pattern considered optimization, which design more relevant. applied novel double-cone ignition scheme, simulation shows that optimized increases areal expectation by 16% one dimension, clean-fuel thickness factor four two dimensions. This could be useful ICF instability control.
